Help reopen the bar at Fiction

Hello friends.

We'd like to update you on the status of Fiction Bar/Cafe here at 308 Hooper St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. 

Like so many small businesses around the world, we have seen better days. Unlike so many small businesses, we're still here! But just barely. Although we did not close for even one day, in this new climate we are only breaking even as a coffee shop and our bar has been shut for many months. With nicer weather returning, we'd like to bring the bar back, adding new outdoor space and exciting food items in addition to our previous roster of some of the best cocktails in all of Brooklyn, served in one of it's most unique spaces. However, in our hobbled state, it's simply unaffordable.

So we're launching this GoFundMe to raise the necessary funds, but with a few critical differences from the past: In addition to laying out the specific costs we need to cover, we'll be offering fun and exciting rewards for those who donate. Every day we get love from the community for still being here. We can assure you that we are equally appreciative of your support and very thankful to still be one the few businesses left in the neighborhood! Please consider helping us now so that we can keep serving Williamsburg for years to come and feel free to share this wildly with friends, neighbors and businesses.

Our fundraising goal is $10,000:
$4500 to renew our liquor license.
$3500 to build and outfit new outdoor spaces with seating and covering on the sidewalk as well as on the street and in the lot next door.
$750 to replenish and revamp our beer/wine/liquor selection and start the process of hiring and training new staff.
$1250 to purchase new cooking equipment and to revamp the space, including much needed maintenance and repairs.
In exchange for your help, we're offering a whole range of fun and exciting rewards depending on what level you donate at, including platinum and corporate levels that are great for groups or businesses.   

Donations/Rewards:

$25- Get a complimentary cocktail at our grand reopening, especially created for Fiction by Al Sotack from Death & Co and Jupiter Disco.

$50 - Get a complimentary cocktail AND food item plus free admission to an event in our soon to be reopened outdoor area.

$100- Complimentary cocktail and food items for two, plus 3 months of free admission to all events in the Lot.

$250- Complimentary cocktail and food items for two, free admission to all events in the Lot for all of 2021, and a one hour cocktail making lesson with one of our pro bartenders. Learn to make your own delicious cocktails at home, including our famous Old Fashioned, Easy Mark and more.

$500- Complimentary cocktail and food items for two, free admission for two for all events in the Lot for the entire year, a one hour cocktail making lesson with one of our pro bartenders, and VIP outdoor seat reservations for two (with 24 hour notice) any time during all of 2021!

$1000- All of the above PLUS... DJ for your friends! Invite all your buddies for a private three hour session where you're the DJ and your personal libations (plus drinks for a guest of your choice) are on the house for that three hour period*.

$2500- Platinum level: All of the above PLUS... film your project here! We will give you a 4 hour slot to film in the space, a tremendous value for which big shows like Girls and companies like Chanel have paid triple that amount!

$5000- Corporate level: All of the above PLUS a plaque dedicating the outdoor space to you/your business, PLUS a 12oz bag of specialty BKSpeed Coffee beans every week for all of 2021, PLUS one private event where you DJ (or provide the DJ) and host up to nine hand-picked guests for a three hour open bar of beer/wine and well cocktails for the entire group in our gorgeous space*!
