Help Reopen Beloved Mexican Restaurant in Oxford CT
Donation protected
I am the owner of 451 Oxford Rd. I have the most wonderful tenants running a Mexican restaurant in the building. The building, like so many stories I hear, was not in the FEMA flood plain, and so flood insurance was not carried.
==> Update 10/14 Hot water system replaced, new furnace installed and foundation repairs completed. Now we need to complete the parking lot and landscaping. If you can, please help us complete the tasks, we are close to full restoration. https://gofund.me/a21dd18a
==> Update 10/4 Work will start next week to replace the furnace and hot water systems, and work on repairing the foundations. Some work has also started on the parking lot. If you can, please help us complete the tasks.
==> Update 9/20 With your kind generosity electric power and water restored today, the town approved the electric permit yesterday and the power was reconnected this morning. Propane is ready for connection when the hot water and HVAC is replaced - the next $15,000. Your continued generosity is much needed and appreciated.

==> Update - With your gracious help, the Electric Contractor is now engaged and equipment ordered, parking lot is ready for millings. The HVAC and Plumbing contractor is ready to go. The building work for the foundation is in design.
I am seeking $50,000 to help repair the building and cover the uninsured loss so that this valuable and well-respected restaurant can reopen as quickly as possible. Work has started, but help is needed to complete the work. The basement was flooded, and the electrics, HVAC, and hot water systems need to be replaced. Outside, the parking lot has to be restored, and one corner of the building stabilized. This is a team effort between landlord and tenant.
CT State and FEMA will take months to provide assistance, and this may not happen. My goal is to get the building open as quickly as possible so the restaurant can reopen.
The priority is to restore power and replace electrics, stabilize the building, replace the hot water/HVAC, and then provide new access to the front of the building. This will allow the restaurant to reopen.
So many kind volunteers have helped empty the basement and remove destroyed equipment, for which I am eternally grateful.
