Hello, my name is Yaelle and I am studying abroad in Ghana, West Africa. As part of my study abroad, I wanted to give back to the community and work with children in the area. I was able to get an internship at an orphanage called HopeWay Ministries Children's Home in Accra.
HopeWay Ministries is a compassionate ministry dedicated to reaching out to vulnerable individuals, especially children facing difficult circumstances, and street adults with disabilities. Their primary objective is to share the Word of God with them and provide comprehensive support through medical, educational, spiritual, and vocational rehabilitation programs.
When I arrived at the orphanage, I saw a need to renovate an old library in the facility that was built in 2010. This library would be renovated into a children's study space that not only serves as a place where the children can focus on their studies, but also serves as a resource center for other children in the community. I am here today to ask for your help in gathering resources and donations to make this project possible. This is a community effort and the impact will be long-lasting for years to come.
Aside from renovating the library, we hope to raise enough funds to offset the cost of running the orphanage, especially due to the high cost of basic necessities such as water and power. Because the children are also given an education, there is a great need for payment for school fees, uniforms, and stationery items as well.
Here is a breakdown on what we intend to do with the money-
2k - library - refurbishing furniture, children’s book, white boards, markers, chairs, computer
2k - water and electricity for the house for a year
1k- food and water
1k - heath, school supply, clothing, wifi
Any help would greatly benefit our cause, as we hope to showcase the finished library on Christmas Day this December. Thank you for your time and support!
