Help Reno Bean Regain His Strength

Hello friends and family

My 4 year old Belgian Malinois Reno aka “Reno Bean” is in need of a surgery to correct a torn CCL. A cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear in dogs is similar to a torn ACL in humans. The CCL is a ligament in the stifle joint (knee) that connects the femur (thigh bone) to the tibia (shin bone). It stabilizes the knee joint and keeps the tibia in place. When the CCL tears, it can't heal and can cause partial or complete joint instability.

Reno has been in a conservative treatment for 3 months, which includes, rest, anti-inflammatories and pain management. This conservative treatment has only been a bandaid in his healing journey. Reno loves to play, run around at the beach, catch frisbees and participate in his protection training. Reno Bean has been limited to just short walks and very little run time since his injury. After periods of rest Reno will resort back to lameness and limping on his injured leg. His quality of life is not what it should be for a young boy his age.

I do work full time and I have pet insurance for Reno but the insurance does not cover the surgery. Reno will receive surgery in Tampa at Blue Pearl Pet Surgery clinic and he will take 8+ weeks to recover. All funds received will go directly to the surgery, it is always tough to reach out and ask for help but Reno is my entire world Seeing my dog in pain everyday is a tremendous weight in my shoulders and he deserves to live a life of freedom.

If you would like additional information on CCL injuries I have attached a link.
