Renee has always dreamed of giving unwanted and forgotten horses a safe place to live out their final years with dignity, compassion, and freedom. For decades, many of these horses gave the best of themselves to their owners and handlers, only to be left behind when their strength faded. Many are elderly, some are blind, and several are Mustangs who lost their homes and freedoms because of BLM policies. All of them still deserve love, safety, and a gentle place to rest.
In early 2017, Renee moved her dream to Etna, California, purchasing an 1800s ranch home on 80 acres so she could rescue horses with nowhere else to go. The ranch has 40 acres of irrigated open grazing land and a mountain stream that provides clean, fresh water—perfect for these beautiful souls to roam freely. However, lack of snow pack in recent years has made it difficult to grow grass in the pastures for more than a couple months during the summer, and the cost of purchasing hay has skyrocketed. Without irrigation, the grass died off, and for the past five years, Renee has been paying entirely out of pocket to feed all 30 horses, along with providing medical care, shelter, fencing repairs, and everything else these seniors need. Renee has never turned a horse away, but the financial weight has become overwhelming.
Funds raised will go directly toward feed, medical care, fencing, and irrigation repairs to keep the horses safe and healthy. Let's keep Renee's dream alive and continue giving these horses the loving home they deserve. Any support means the world to Renee and her herd.
