Hello! My name is Julia and I’m doing this on behalf of my dear friend Renee Ghormley. Anyone who knows Renee knows how resilient she is, from being born with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, the 10+ major surgeries she has had, to working so incredibly hard to be as independent as she possibly could be. Until now.

In 2020, Renee got incredibly sick (not Covid). It turned out she had become septic. In the 3 months she was in the hospital and rehab, we almost lost her twice. After being home for a few months, she then developed Osteomyelitis, which almost took her from us again. But in true Renee fashion, she pulled through. But sadly, it cost her the independence she so badly wanted.

Her mom became her primary caregiver. Unfortunately, Renee lost her mom in 2023. After her mom’s passing, she found a wonderful caregiver who takes such good care of her. Insurance does not cover the cost, so Renee has been paying out-of-pocket. As anyone knows, this is not inexpensive. Having this caregiver has allowed Renee to stay in her home and regain a tiny bit of the independence she has worked so hard for. Having to shoulder the cost of this is taking a toll on her.

Losing her caregiver is not what I want to see happen to her. That would be devastating. So I’m asking anyone who reads this to help Renee keep her caregiver and stay at home. Anything you can give will be so very appreciated. I’ll make sure to keep everyone updated on how things are going and will pass along any messages to Renee. Thank you in advance!
