Help René with his expenses as he fights Lymphoma

Hi, my name is Tracy and my beloved husband René was recently diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Although we're less than 4 weeks from his initial diagnosis, his health has deteriorated very rapidly, and he's currently on Life Support in the ICU at the Ottawa Hospital (General Campus) while the medical team tries to stabilize his vitals and get him strong enough to undergo chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, although René has a full-time job in Security, they have no long-term (or short-term) disability, and he is only paid for the hours he actually GOES to work. He hasn't worked in the past month, and so there are no paycheques rolling in. As he is currently sedated and on Life Support, he can't even apply for EI benefits. As you can imagine, expenses such as parking at the hospitals, gasoline for the car, meals, etc., quickly drain our resources.
As I went through two cancer battles myself in the past 5 years, I have been left with severe neuropathy in my feet, and can no longer work.
Therefore, any and all financial help would be greatly appreciated. I am NOT the type to ask people for money, but as a very dear friend just said to me today, "It takes a village...." In this case, she is correct.
Thank you!
