For 35 years, I have worked in public service, mostly helping immigrants and people with limited English proficiency build stable, self-sufficient lives. Along the way, I have also supported my family, my loved ones, and the animals who found their way to me when no one else wanted them. Over the years, I have helped care for stray cats and dogs, including trapping and caring for as many as 20 animals at a time with help from rescues in my Minnesota community.
Recently, I took a much-needed trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, and my heart broke seeing so many homeless and hungry dogs and cats struggling to survive on the streets. I knew I could not look away. I have dual US/Mexico citizenship, and I am preparing to move to Oaxaca with my two chihuahuas and my cat to begin a new chapter focused on helping abandoned animals. I will use my own savings to make the move, but I need support to build something stable and lasting once I arrive.
This fundraiser will help me secure a home with a large, fenced yard where I can begin the process of creating a licensed rescue. It will help cover the basics every rescued animal needs: food, vaccinations, spay and neuter care, beds, leashes, cages, and safety supplies. I am asking for your support so I can provide a safe, caring home as all living beings deserve. If this mission speaks to you, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser.
