Help Renae Leiss on her Journey to Diagnosis & Recovery

As many of our friends and family know our amazing mother, Renae Leiss, has recently been admitted to the ICU in Bismarck to undergo continuous testing after going to the ER in both Dickinson and then Bismarck on Wednesday. This followed a full day of scary symptoms, following a bout with what she believed to be either influenza/food poisoning, including numbness and tingling, fever, nausea, and ascending paralysis in her extremeties reaching her chest. This became a major concern for her and our entire family as we were worried the paralysis would affect her breathing if it continued in such an aggressive ascent . She was taken to the ER in Dickinson then sent to Bismarck ER for better testing abilities. After some basic testing, a spinal tap and a CT Scan came back negative for the few things they were concerned about, she was released, prematurely as we believe she should've been held for observation for at least 24 hours with the symptoms she was having, and sent home to Dickinson to "rest". By the late hours of that night she had lost the ability for most motor functions, speech and eventually all responsiveness in an almost "comatoselike"/stupor state and was rushed by ambulance to the Dickinson ER, as their protocol wouldn't allow direct transfer to Bismarck even though she had Been admitted there less than 12 hours earlier. This was very frustrating as it took another 5-6 hours to get her to the ER in Bismarck and after seeing her condition she was immediately admitted to ICU, following EEG and 2 types of MRI scans as immediate tests, to stabilize her. They intubated her and put her on a ventilator to breathe as well as an IV and feeding tube for nutrients. She has remained in this state of unresponsiveness with every test they've taken coming back negative, which is a very positive thing as they eliminated many fatal/detrimental possibilities. This continues to leave the specialists stumped as we continue to search for answers so we can treat this navigating constant tests and weeding out any and all possibilities hoping and praying for her to wake up. As most know our mother is probably one of the healthiest people we know and unfortunately she did not currently have Health insurance and the costs of the extensive testing, emergency rooms, emergency ambulance ride, and hospital stay continues to grow and we are now reaching out to the many people who love our mom to ask for continued prayers for her doctors wisdom in this diagnosis and treatment, and if you feel led, for any financial help you are able to donate for this gofund me to take some of this large financial strain off her once she is in recovery. We thank God for a full healing and recovery and thank any and all who are led to help/donate to her medical expenses as we wait for the tests to give us an answer and this strong, incredible warrior to wake. We thank you all for your continued prayers, love and support during this time as well❤️
