Ren was a stray who followed me home during the pandemic. Over the past six years, he has become my constant companion and my lifeline throughout some of my hardest moments.

He's already been through more than any cat ever should: a misdiagnosed respiratory illness led to severe stomatitis, and in April 2024 he had 14 teeth extracted. I felt relief and believed that would be the end of his pain. Last week, I learned it wasn’t.. Ren was diagnosed with cancer.

Ren is the kind of cat who easily wins over dog people. He loves meeting new people, cuddling, and being outside. When he began frequently hissing, his vet conducted X-rays that revealed a tumor. Thankfully, it was caught early at Stage 1, giving him a real chance if we act quickly.

So far, vet visits, X-rays, biopsy, and a CT scan have cost nearly $6,500. Upcoming treatment options include surgery ($4,000–$6,000) and SRT radiation therapy ($15,000–$16,000). Every donation goes directly toward giving Ren the best chance at a long, comfortable life.

Ren has given me unconditional love when I needed it most. I want to do everything possible to minimize his pain and fight this cancer using the most effective and least invasive options available, including surgery and/or accelerated SRT therapy.
