Hi, my name is Ashlyn, and this is my dog Remy (short for Remington). I rescued Remy a little over a year ago, and he is estimated to be about 5–6 years old. From the moment he came into my life, he has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. He is the biggest lover, incredibly well-behaved, and so grateful for every bit of love and care he receives.
This past Sunday morning, everything changed. Remy woke up unable to use his back left leg — it was completely paralyzed. I rushed him to the emergency vet, where X-rays came back clear, but it quickly became apparent that he is suffering from a spinal injury. The next critical step is an MRI so the veterinarians can determine exactly what type of spinal injury he has and ensure he receives the correct treatment. Over the past three days, we have been back and forth to the vet multiple times a day. Remy has had difficulty doing basic things on his own and has reacted negatively to certain medications, including not eating, drinking, or using the bathroom normally. While the vet believes he is otherwise in good shape, they cannot move forward with the best plan of care without MRI imaging.
There is hope — it’s very possible Remy could recover within a month or two with the steroids he is currently on. However, if surgery is required, it’s crucial to know as soon as possible so he has the best chance at a full recovery. The funds raised will go directly toward Remy’s MRI and any necessary surgery, as well as ongoing care and vet bills. Remy has truly saved my life, and now it’s my turn to save his. Any donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has already helped us get through these first few days. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Remy get the care he needs.
