My name is Jessica and my husbands name is Jack. We rescued our puppy, Remy, in September of 2025 at 10 weeks. He shares the same birthday as me and has quickly become my soul dog over the last 5 months. Sassy, stubborn, smart as heck, the BIGGEST cuddler and everything we’ve ever wanted.
In January he developed a cough and we quickly got him on antibiotics. He finished the course, but the cough was still lingering. We started him on another higher dose course, and he seemed to be improving…the cough was nearly gone. On Friday, February 13 we woke up at 4am to him vomiting, dry heaving. We took him to the ER where they told us he had a fever. He quickly became more lethargic. Chest x-rays showed pneumonia. They did a saline lavage on his lungs and found pus. It rapidly became septic pneumonia. They attempted hi flo nasal cannula late Friday night, but he wasn’t tolerating it well. His oxygen was too low and he was breathing heavily. I will never forget the eyes he gave me as we entered the room and he tried to lift his head. The doctor said his best chance was a mechanical ventilator. He’s trending in the right direction and much more comfortable, but we recognize he has a long road ahead and want to give him the best chance possible…we need him to come home. Any amount that you can donate would go towards making this possible.
We’re very proud people and we never envisioned ourselves in a scenario such as this. You tell yourself you’d do anything for your dog, but you never really think about what that entails. Doctor’s are being realistic, but compassionate about his prognosis and we wouldn’t be asking if we didn’t think he had a fighting chance. From the bottom of hearts, thank you.
Puppy tax attached.
