Hello Farquhar Estates neighbors! A few weeks ago, Leslie Robinson (119 Summit) emailed Mary Beth and Scott Fisher (100 Country Club – corner or Fairview/Country Club) (copied also to a couple of other residents, who had personal experience) to inform them that she had reached out to Spring Garden Township with concerns that the large ginkgo tree closest to the corner of Fairview and Country Club made it difficult to see oncoming traffic in order to safely pull out onto Country Club Road. The Fishers invited her down to look at the situation and discuss. The township later investigated and determined that the tree was not a safety issue requiring remediation. That said, the Fishers are willing to have the tree removed. Unfortunately, a large tree removal was not planned for their home maintenance budget this year. It was proposed that, to gauge community motivation to have the tree removed, a GoFundMe page be set up to allow residents to contribute to such a project. The Fishers got three estimates for removal and stump grinding, and this fundraiser amount is based on the specific lowest estimate for the job. The price includes traffic control on Country Club during the removal. The Fishers will contribute to the effort, as will Leslie and Lynn. Bottom line: If the neighborhood contributes enough to cover the cost of the project, the ginkgo will be gone sometime this summer. For transparency’s sake: If the fundraiser is successful, money from this GoFundMe would go to the Fishers as a reimbursement, thus they are listed as the beneficiary. PS Thanks to the Fishers' neighbors on Country Club Road for agreeing to trim back their hedge to help improve visibility as a stopgap measure.
