Greetings, we the officers and members of PHV AME want to share this story. We have been praying for souls at Pleasant Hill Victory African Methodist Episcopal Church during our 40 Day Lenten Season Prayer each night at 7 pm.
On Wednesday, March 4th, a few hours before prayer, our lead church trustee drove into our crumbling parking lot and was horrified and deeply hurt by what she saw. Somebody decided to dump more than 100 automobile and commercial truck tires. The tires have damaged cemetery headstones and created a terrible eyesore at one of this community’s oldest churches. Many can’t believe that this could happen at a church, our cemetery, or anywhere.
We are a small congregation that has struggled over the years from vandalism of property, used as a dumping ground for tires, drug paraphernalia, and more. It's been difficult to keep Couch Hall standing next door to the church. Couch Hall was the one-room schoolhouse that Black children attended during school segregation. We humbly ask for your prayers and contributions to help us pay to remove these tires, repair headstones effected by the tires, install a security system, and secure the property to prevent further vandalism. With mustard seed faith, we believe just like Ezekiel that these dry bones can live through the power of God.
