Update 1/3: we ended up at back at VCA colonial on Friday. We found out her liver count is way too high. Her ALT (enzyme in the liver that brakes down protein) was 1,978 and it should only be 10-125. Her ALKP ( the vet explained it as the liver enzyme) was at 9,527and it should only be 23-212. Also her GGT( glycoprotein that's found in the liver cells lining the bile ducts is an indicator of liver and gallbladder problems)was 245 and it should only be 0-11.
The plan for now is to keep taking her off the prednisone slowly. We started her on a liver supplement and we go back on the 16th for a specialist appointment. When she’s off the prednisone then we can run the tests on her to see what’s going on.
Update1/2: Remmys sadly isn’t in recovery, over the past couple of weeks she has lost weight which made me very worried seem so it was about 10 pounds. We had a vet appointment today and we were recommended to go back to VCA for more testing. She has lost a lot of body mass and her back end is shaking so they want to rule out a tumor and Cushing’s disease.
This poor girl has been through so much the last few weeks
My family and I got Remmy in October of 2018, she was a happy girl and loved her new home! In January of 2019 she got her first auto immune disease called ITP. ITP is when the spleen attacks the platelets. She only had 2 platelets in her body. She recovered from that one but then in 2020 she had another flare up with a different auto immune disease called IMHA. IMHA attacks the red blood cells so we had to take her to Cornell for a blood transfusion. Yesterday I rushed her to the vet because we thought her ITP was back. She had bruising all over. Her test results came back and she had 0 platelets in her body this time. We were sent to VCA colonial where we were told that she will needs testing every 2-3 days for about a month then every week for a month and so on. She may also need her spleen removed. If the treatment doesn’t work then she will need another blood transfusion.
Remmy has been the light of my whole world since I got her. Her personality light up every room and her smiles make anyone's day! Please help me ensure this awesome girl can continue to shine!
