Help "Remit" - A Yellin Films Short Sci-fi Mystery Thriller
Donation protected
Greetings. Eddie Yellin here, writer/director of the upcoming Sci-Fi/Mystery/Thriller short, "Remit". I am also the founder of Yellin Films, an official LLC, independent production company. "Remit" will be the FIRST EVER Yellin Films production to officially incorporate the Science Fiction genre.
I am beyond excited about this project. It's been nearly two years since my last short, "Pickle", and it feels incredible to finally be diving back into a short again. However, "Remit" needs your help to fully bring it to life. I am looking to raise roughly $3,000 to complete the budget for this film. This film feels very personal to me, for a multitude of reasons.
As a lifelong film fanatic, I've grown inspired to pieces such as Breaking Bad, and filmmakers ranging from Christopher Nolan, The Coen Brothers, and many more. I've mainly worked in the crime/thriller genre, which is why I'm so excited about "Remit", because "Remit" will be my first non crime/thriller short. It definitely feels strange to be stepping out of my comfort zone with this film, but I believe as artists it's essential we push ourselves to new limits and explore the bounds of what we can create outside of our familiar zones.
Now, on to a little sneak peek for "Remit"...
"Remit" is a Sci-Fi/Mystery/Thriller centered around Rob, a 75 year old man. One thing you should know about Rob is that he is a MASSIVE fan of....The Grey Hookets. The Grey Hookets are a local baseball team, a team that Rob has cherished and followed for over 50 years. He's grown quite an immense connection to the team, and listens to EVERY SINGLE GAME they play. There is only one problem. Ever since he was roughly 20 years old, he's developed an OCD anxiety that fixates on the need to always know the score for every Grey Hookets game. Rob feels that he MUST log the score in his scorecard for every single game, and if he were to miss a SINGLE GAME, something terrible....something truly catastrophic......will occur.
To wrap things up, I would greatly appreciate any donation possible. This is a short that will be submitted to festival circuits and pushed out in the world as much as possible. It's a bizarre, strange story, but grounded around a real disorder. OCD (Obsessive-compulsion disorder) is something that I've seen many pieces of media try and create a message out of, but many fall into the trap of creating a 'cliche' product to translate the message. "Remit" is different, as it tells an engaging narrative through the Sci-Fi genre while keeping a real message underneath the surface. I find that it's most impactful to create a compelling story that both engages the audience and highlights a serious issue, not in an overdramatized way, but naturally, built up through the narrative.
Any donation, even just $1 would be incredible! I am so excited about this film, and cannot wait to share it with the world.
