Help Remi Keller Fight Cancer (Ewing's Sarcoma)

Donation protected
Meet Remi Keller: a spirited, talented 13-year-old girl with an unwavering zest for life. Remi is the first of three children born to my brother, Robert Keller, and partner Alex Keller. From a young age, she has always looked out for others, often putting their well-being above her own to the point of getting the Altruism superlative at school.

Remi is a beacon of compassion and courage. She's a proud vegan who stands up for animal rights (Recently boycotting The Kentucky Derby in Louisville) and actively supports the LGBTQ community. Her talents are many—she’s an accomplished pianist, a shining star in her school’s theater productions, and a world traveler who spent six years in Japan while her father served in the Airforce. Her adventurous spirit has also taken her to Arizona, Kentucky, and Georgia. And most importantly, shes an older sister, best friend, and outstanding role model to her siblings Eliza (10) and Phineas (4).

Recently, our world was turned upside down when Remi started experiencing severe pelvic pain without any known cause. After a series of tests, a biopsy of her pelvic bone, and a lengthy stay in the hospital, she was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma; Ewing's Sarcoma is an aggressive and rare cancer that primarily affects the bones and the soft tissue around them. It is going to require an intensive treatment regimen, including chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy over the course of the next 8 months; the doctors are also freezing her eggs so that when she makes it through this, she may be able to have children on her own one day. The road to recovery is going to be long and challenging, but we are determined to give Remi the best possible chance to beat this disease.

Ewing's Sarcoma may be a formidable opponent, but Remi's fighting spirit is even stronger. The odds of recovery improve significantly with early and aggressive treatment. However, the cost of this treatment is immense, and even with insurance, the financial burden is overwhelming.

Remi’s father and my younger brother, Robert, has dedicated 15+ years to serving our country as a captain in the Airforce, and her mother, Alex, is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who has devoted her career to helping others in need. Now, they need our help to support their daughter in this battle for her life.

We are reaching out to you, our community, friends, and family, to ask for your support. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards covering Remi's medical expenses, treatment, and recovery journey. Your generosity will help alleviate the financial strain on her family, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—Remi's health and well-being, so she can overcome this terrible disease.

Remi is a vibrant young girl with so much life left to live. She has dreams to chase, stages to perform on, music to create, and so much more to experience in this life. Let’s come together to give her the fighting chance she deserves. Thank you for your support, kindness, and prayers during this difficult time.

Robert Keller, Airforce Captain, Alex Keller, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, deeply appreciate your support for their daughter Remi. Help us overcome the odds and beat this cancer so that Remi can resume living and loving life as the outgoing, loving, funny, kind, talented and strong teenage girl we all are thankful to have in our lives and will fight to make sure she continues to be for many more.

**Updates**
7/4/24- Biopsy came back, confirmed what we already knew. She has Ewing sarcoma and has a large tumor protruding from her pelvic bone and impacting how bowels, but scans have shown that it hasn't spread to other parts of the body and her lungs and brain are clear. Tuesday they will put a port in for chemo, during that procedure they will also harvest some eggs from her in case she decides to have children later on in life, as the effects from radiation/chemo often results in infertility, especially in developing adolescents. Chemo will start Wednesday. She will have chemo treatments every other week. The stays will be between 3-5 days each time and the plan is for this to go on for the next 8 months while we monitor the situation and hopefully battle this thing into remission. Thanks you for kind words, prayers, and donations to the cause...we love you guys.

Even through all this, she's still smiling and cracking jokes...love this girl

Update 7/11
Remi had surgery the other day and had some of the tumor mass removed along with her ovaries which have been severely impacted by the cancer. (This was not a surprise, as the doctors had informed us previously that they would need to be removed). The cancer mass in her pelvis region is quite large and they are not going to be able to remove it entirely, but we are hoping that she responds positively to the chemo and radiation, and we are able to shrink it and halt it's further growth. Shes an extremely brave girl and has been unbelievably positive throughout this entire ordeal; instead of sulking and asking "Why me?", she's been taking this disease on with a dark sense of humor and making her loved ones laugh with her instead of crying; this girl is a beacon of light and is always able to find the silver lining, even in the worst of situations.

She's currently being treated in Phoenix, but we are deciding where she will go to receive the remainder of her treatments as we'd prefer for her to be at a Children's hospital which will be able to tend to her needs more appropriately than a general hospital, as well as be in the East Coast where the bulk of her extended family reside. Again, we want to thank everyone who has selflessly donated to her cause, and even if you aren't in a position to donate, please just pray for her if you can; I believe that the collective consciousness of all of us can have an impact when we are aligning our spiritual energies/minds/thoughts and yearning for the same things. Love you all so much; Remi and we are gonna be at this thing!!! ❤️❤️❤️
