My name is Dana Bonilla, and for the last 5 months, my family and I have been experiencing extreme financial hardship due to multiple devastating events that were out of our control.

First, in April, my husband was forced to take a demotion instead of a pink slip, and in turn, it came with a $50K pay cut. Then, in May, I was diagnosed for a second time with stage 4 cancer, and I have been battling that this whole time, but on 9/13/24, I was able to ring that bell.

In August, my apartment complex served us with an eviction notice because we had fallen behind on the rent. It was impossible to pay $3200 a month with only my husband's check, which was cut by more than half. Also, my job sent me an email letting me know I had been fired because I exhausted the 12 weeks of FMLA they allow.

And now, on Monday, we received a call from our mechanic, letting us know that our second car will need a big job that can cost upwards of $4K, and we can't junk it because we still owe $15K. I don't expect to raise money to cover all that; what I hope to raise is at least enough to relocate to a more affordable apartment. This is definitely something that I ordinarily would never do, but I am in need of help.
