I'm just wanting to help a family (I call my own) out by relieving them of financial stress, so they can worry about what is more important. On December 21st, Larry suffered another stroke. This one much more severe and leaving him with significant deficits. He is currently unable to speak or swallow and has lost all mobility on his right side. After struggling with his NG tube clogging and needing it removed, yesterday they were successfully able to place a G tube in his stomach so he can start receiving nutrition that way. He was able to be transferred to inpatient rehab today 12/31 to begin his long uncertain road to recovery. Although they are unsure of how much he will gain back from rehab at this time, we are all staying hopeful for a positive outcome.
If you know Larry or have ever met him, you know how easygoing and kind-hearted he is. He’s a simple man who has never asked for much and worked hard his entire life, that is until his health began declining over the past few years. He developed early-onset dementia after his stroke in 2021, and in September of this year he learned he has congestive heart failure. He is only 60 years old and the hand he has been dealt has not been fair.
Ginny has always been by his side for every appointment, surgery, procedure, emergency room visit and hospital stay. With his dementia it’s been difficult for him to keep things straight. He relies on her but always finds comfort with her and her sister Carissa by his side. With Carissa having other family obligations it’s hard to be there all the time but relieves Ginny when possible.
Larry will never be able to live alone again. Should he recover enough to go home he will live with Ginny and her husband. She is determined to do whatever she can to keep him out of a nursing home.
Ginny has a hard time asking for help and probably never will, but with missing work, traveling back and forth to the hospital, and the care he may need at home will add up. I’m hoping to relieve some of the financial burden she and her family will face in the future. If you feel compelled to donate, please do. If nothing else please keep Larry, Ginny, Carissa, and the rest of their family in your prayers.
