I have fought this for over a year—while pregnant with two small children and trying to keep my family afloat. I have sold my business equipment, liquidated our life savings, and exhausted every loan available from friends and family. I could have easily "folded"—I could have accepted their false findings, let them destroy my clients' hard-earned breastmilk, and gotten back to work as fast as possible to avoid financial loss.
But I refused. I refused because this isn't just about my business; it is about accountability. My client's need their breastmilk back and like I have said from day one, Booby Food is about protecting and preserving mother's own breastmilk and I treat every stash like it was my own. Which is why I continue to fight.
For over a year, I have been fighting a battle that no small business owner, or breastfeeding mother should ever have to face. We were shut down by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) due to what we believe are significant government administrative errors, clear personal biases within the inspection team and falsified reports driven to shut our business down.
To hear recorded audio/transcripts of their on-site inspections vs. what they wrote in their reports, we posted them on social media sites Instagram, Facebook and TikTok so you can hear and read for yourself...
For almost 6 years, I served breastfeeding mothers proudly, freeze-drying their breastmilk with the same love and care as if it were my own.
Our service has helped thousands of mothers from Canada to the US and beyond. Allowing breastfeeding mothers, surrogate + IP families and babies of all ages benefit from extending the life of their breastmilk by freeze-drying it into a shelf-stable, travel friendly powder. Learn what Booby Food is at the end of this post.
Booby Food has a perfect safety record: zero food safety or health complaints, zero recalls, and going above and beyond recommended testing procedures. But, Booby Food continues to be suspended by CFIA.
Despite a letter from Health Canada and the CFIA themselves determining there were no health and safety risks due to contamination, confirming that mothers already in possession of their freeze-dried milk could safely continue using it for their babies, the CFIA inspectors have refused to release our client's breastmilk they seized when we were suspended.
Truly a David vs. Goliath Battle
We have been trapped in a incomprehensible nightmare. When we requested formal reviews of the inspectors' work, but they refused and decided to edit their own work.
They claimed to make minor modifications, while in reality, they significantly altered, removed, and added information—including erasing evidence without disclosing to us.
In the reports used to suspend us they shared that a mother changing her diet can make her breastmilk unsafe, the use of one's own surrogate's breastmilk could be unsafe, and shockingly, that mothers could be lying on their intake forms sent to us about their breastmilk or they could send us fake breastmilk to freeze-dry and send back to them.
We have shared the audio and transcripts of this situation with countless CFIA offices, MPs, Ministers and the media, yet the suspension continues.
This is about standing up against the abuse of power. It is about protecting the rights of breastfeeding mothers who were denied their own breastmilk—some of which was needed for medical reasons—without a shred of evidence that it was unsafe. I've lost everything, but my passion, purpose and fight to protect and preserve my client's breastmilk and the future of this service to more mothers and babies.
In December 2025 and February 2026, CFIA continued to silently remove reports of their findings, which were the very cause of our suspension and our client's breastmilk being seized without disclosing it and yet, we continue to be suspended and mother's milk withheld. Now we face cancelation by the CFIA due to inspection reports that have been falsified, altered, erased and some even removed entirely.
Why We Need Your Help:
I have tried everything I possibly can to have this seen and heard by officials who could have, and should have prevented or stopped this. My personal finances, emotional, mental and physical bank accounts have gone into the red, but I someone needs to stand up against a system that attempts to suppress a mother's right to breastfeed her own baby and bulldoze small businesses, because they can. Their unethical, unsubstantiated decisions though falsifying reports and creating undue delays seemingly mean to drain resources from small businesses preventing them from defending themselves. We need your help to continue this fight for justice.
Your donations will directly support:
Legal Fees: To continue to challenge the administrative malpractice we have faced and push for the release of our clients' seized breastmilk and to withdraw our suspension.
Independent Expert Reviews: We've proven the integrity of our processes as shown with no health or safety complaints and no recalls. Experts and former CFIA staff have even refuted the falsified reports and unscientific findings. These experts include a microbiologists, regulatory specialists and forensic scientists.
Operational Sustainability: We are eagerly waiting to have the suspension withdrawn and get back to work, but the longer this goes on, it's harder to pay reoccurring operating expenses to keep an empty facility running with no business and no income. To keep our doors open while we navigate this fight, we are asking for help.
How You Can Help
1. Donate: No amount is too small. Every dollar helps us continue to challenge this unjust suspension and release the breastmilk back to the mothers and babies that need it. Through GoFundMe, (e-transfer or Paypal can be used, message for email as GFM won't allow emails to be shown)
2. Share: Please share this story. Public awareness is the only tool we have to demand accountability from those who feel they are above it. The inspectors actions not only discredit and insult breastfeeding mothers, but are a threat to small businesses that inspectors may not agree with and so they abuse their power to create a narrative that fits their pre-conceived outcome.
3. Spread the Word: If you were a previous happy client and want to support our mission, please leave us a 5-Star review on Google and share your experience with Booby Food and the world.
I love what I do. I love being of service to breastfeeding families in a society where support is often scarce and let's be honest... breastfeeding is hard enough, the CFIA shouldn't make it harder. I am asking for your help not just to save my business, but to restore the property of the mothers who trusted us, and to prove that breastfeeding mothers and small businesses deserve to be treated with fairness and truth.
Thank you for standing with us.
Long live your breastmilk.
