Help Release '9 Jordan Rain Song' on vinyl
Hello friends and lovers of great music.
I'm reaching out to see if you will support my goal of releasing my first solo album '9 Jordan Rain Song' which came out in 2003 on vinyl record format. It is my favorite music I've ever released. Initially it came out on Murder Mountain Records (now defunct) via Bug Jerome on C.D. with hand silk screened covers i did. This was my first experiment with layering and overdubbing myself on all instruments (bass/drums/guitar/vocals) to create fully realized songs at home or wherever inspired. At that time I had one of those white plastic Apple Macbooks (laptop) that had Garageband recording software on it. After trying to record with tape machine's in the past, which impeded the inspiration and was not easy for me, this was like having wings for the first time, with nothing impeding my musical ideas, being able to develop a song from start to finish and mix it just the way I wanted without any technology getting in the way. This album was a favorite among musical peers and NW music industry professionals probably because it goes with the flow of the NW weather moodscape and vibe for the most part. It was released 2 years before I started Yogoman Burning Band so it has a bit of that dance rebellion with the bookend versions of Chaka Chaka, later recorded with YBB, which includes a surf/dancehall instrumental version kicking the album off and ending with the vocal harmony version of Chaka Chaka Freedom, the anti political anthem YBB fans are more familiar with. In the meat of this album exists many colors and textures dripping with rain, moss, ferns and Evergreen trees that meets Whatcom creek and Bellingham Bay through a batch of instrumentals that could be described as cinematic, impressionist, emo/shoe gaze, crunchy pop funk dub, folk mantra, indie bossanova pop with arabic scats, Country RnB Soul and Doo Wop Soul Rock. It is truly a Bellingham-centric album with references to the Ham in song titles, lyrics and even drops other fellow local bands at that time within song. Go ahead and give it a listen wherever you stream music online under the artist/title: Jordan Rain/Yogoman - 9 Jordan Rain Song. Hopefully you'll agree that this classic will be best heard as a vinyl record album LP at 33 & 1/3rpm. Thank you so much for supporting this musical dream.
Thankfully local Bellingham, WA record store owner Nico Sanchez of Black Noise Records located at Bay and Holly Streets will be co-releasing album this with me and putting up half of the funds of a small pressing amount, 250 records ($3000 cost total). If we raise this projected goal budget of $3500, that would make it so we could press 500 vinyl (only 1K more at $4000 total cost) and still have a budget for hiring a good publicist to get it covered in national/international music publications. If we surpass our fundraising goal, we could get higher vinyl quality like 100gram vinyl which will last longer. Either way I'll be extremely grateful to have this completed via your support, but you can see the price point is ridiculously better for 500 copies and more of them to go around. This is likely going to be released in late 2023 or more likely in 2024 so I'm happy to mail anyone a copy when they come out if you pitch in an amount of $30 or more (retail + shipping cost). We will be performing selections from it live this summer around the PNW with Yogoman Burning Band as well. https://yogoman.com has all show dates, music, videos, and more if you want to catch some of the magic live.
Cheers, thanks again and much love to you all! - Jordan Rain/Yogoman
