I am organizing this fundraiser to support my close friend, Sai Krishna Pampani, and his 12-year-old daughter Rekha, who is courageously battling leukemia for the third time.
Rekha is from Bangalore, India. She was first diagnosed when she was just 3 years old. At such a young age, she had to endure hospital visits, painful treatments, and long months away from a normal childhood. Despite everything, she showed incredible strength and resilience, and she fought her way to recovery.
For a few years, she was able to live like any other child—going to school, playing, and dreaming about her future.
But the cancer returned.
She faced her first relapse with remarkable courage, going through treatment once again without losing hope. More recently, the family received the devastating news of a second relapse.
Today, Rekha is back in treatment, fighting once again with a strength that is truly beyond her years. The hospital has become a second home for the family. Some days are especially difficult, but she continues to stay brave and keep going in a way that inspires everyone around her.
Over the past several years, her parents have done everything possible to save their daughter. They have used all their savings, taken loans, and stretched themselves in every possible way to ensure she receives the best care. Close friends have already stepped in to help, but the financial burden has now gone beyond what the family can manage on their own.
Her treatment is urgent and time-sensitive. Doctors are working to stabilize her condition and prepare her for the next critical stage of treatment, which offers her the best chance at recovery. Any delay or interruption could significantly impact her chances.
The estimated cost of her ongoing treatment and upcoming procedures is approximately $60,000 USD (₹50,00,000 INR / ~AUD 90,000). While the family has managed a portion through savings, loans, and insurance, a significant gap still remains.
In the immediate term, the family requires approximately ₹5,00,000 INR (~$6,000 USD) every 5 days until the end of May to continue her treatment without interruption. This makes timely support extremely critical.
I am reaching out to ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will directly help Rekha continue her treatment and fight this disease.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others. If anyone would like to connect with the family directly for more details or to offer support, I would be happy to share their contact information.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and for standing with Rekha and her family in this fight.
