Please Help Reina and Baby Violet After Loss of Her Fiancé
Donation protected
On a quiet Thursday evening, the young lives of Jonathan, Reina, and baby Violet changed forever.
As always, Jonathan and Reina had gone to bed early to prepare for work the following day, and their one-year-old daughter, Violet, had just been tucked in. Reina awoke during the night to find that her partner was not breathing—Jonathan had gone into cardiac arrest in his sleep. She called 911, heart racing, as a friend who was staying the night started CPR on Jonathan.
Paramedics arrived quickly and managed to restart his heart—but it had been too long. Jonathan was rushed to the hospital and placed in intensive care. After a series of tests, doctors put him in a medically induced coma. Following days of careful observation, though still in a coma, the doctors confirmed that due to cardiac arrest and loss of oxygen, Jonathan is potentially brain dead. He is only 33 years old, with no known health conditions, no warnings, and no second chances.
Reina and Jonathan’s parents now sit beside him in the hospital room, holding his hand, talking to him, playing videos of them having fun with Violet, doing anything to stimulate his brain and somehow spark a miracle for him to wake up. At the same time, Reina is trying to process all of this while caring for their baby daughter and making decisions no one should have to make. Jonathan is still on life support, though, things don't look good. While the doctors are reluctant to officially declare him brain dead, they have said he is completely reliant on the machines and there is little, if any, brain activity.

This GoFundMe has been created to help Reina during this unimaginably difficult time with medical expenses, rent, groceries, baby supplies, and immediate living costs as she faces an uncertain future.
A Young Family’s Life Turned Upside Down
Reina and Jonathan have been together almost 5 years and had just started building the life they always dreamed of. They finally found a nice place to live and one year ago they were blessed with their beautiful baby, Violet. They enjoyed living together and spent quality time centered around their little girl. They met through friends, bonded over books and music, and supported each other through life’s ups and downs. They got engaged just before Violet was born and were planning a small wedding in the future.
Jonathan is a gentle, thoughtful man. A hard-working restaurant manager who believes in the power of kindness and showed up for people in quiet, meaningful ways. He plays with Violet every night before bed, always changes the early-morning diapers, and makes Reina laugh even on the hardest days. He was her partner, her best friend, and the father every child deserves.
Now, after one tragic moment, Reina is facing life as a single mom—grieving the love of her life, raising their daughter alone, and trying to figure out how to pay for the mounting medical bills and their rent, all while holding her world together for baby Violet.
Why Reina Needs Your Help
Reina has been a full-time, stay-at-home mom since Violet was born and planned to return to work when Violet started preschool. Jonathan’s income covered all of their expenses and with him suddenly incapacitated, there’s no safety net. No backup plan. Just urgent needs piling up fast.
This campaign is asking for help to raise $40,000 to cover:
• Medical bills from Jonathan’s cardiac arrest and ICU stay
• Rent and utilities for the next few months
• Groceries and baby supplies for Violet
• Emergency childcare so Reina can begin working again
Every donation, no matter the amount, will help lift a weight off Reina’s shoulders as she tries to heal and rebuild a life for herself and Violet. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page with others. The more people who know their story, the more support they may receive.
From Reina
“I don’t know how to do this alone. I never imagined I’d be sitting here, holding Jonathan’s hand and saying goodbye while trying to keep it together for our daughter. He was my home. He was Violet’s whole world. I’m trying to stay strong for her—but the truth is, I need help. If you’re able to give anything, or even just share this, thank you. It means more than I can put into words.”
