Nothing in this world will strike more fear into the heart of a parent than learning that you child has a serious illness. In early April, in the midst of covid-19 introducing itself to the world, Alicia and Richard were given the news that their beautiful daughter Reighlyn has leukemia. Their whole world was turned upside down as they started the battery of tests, procedures and treatments, and Alicia had to leave work to care for her. But with the help and positivity of her parents, and the unconquerable soul of a child, Reighlyn is fighting through it with smiles and giggles and a stubbornness that just will not fail! During such a difficult time though, a lot of us have wondered how we can help the family through it. While finances should be the last thing that parents of a sick child have think about, it is a very real fact that they very quickly become a huge issue. So if anyone would like to help with that, I thought we could ban together and ease that burden a little for them while they fight through this. I know Alicia and Richard have been overwhelmed with the out pouring of love and compassion throughout this entire ordeal. It takes a village to raise a child and thank you for being their village through this. Keep sending your love/prayers/good thoughts/positive vibes, etc. Reighlyn has a long battle ahead of her but it is one that can be won and maybe one day this disease will be a thing of the past!
