Hey friends, family, and teammates—
My name is Reid McFadden. I’m a high school basketball coach and Athletic Director, and longtime Duke Basketball fanatic, who’s spent the past 20 years building teams, shaping culture, and pouring into student-athletes.
In May 2026—just a few months after I turn 40—I’ll be attending the Coach K Academy at Duke University. This is my 40th birthday adventure. Not a vacation, not a party—but a chance to grow, stretch, and learn from one of the most iconic leaders in sports history.
Coach K Academy isn’t just a fantasy camp. It’s a five-day leadership experience. Each day includes on-court coaching, team strategy sessions, and practices run by Duke’s current staff and former players. Each night features leadership talks from Coach K himself—where he shares how he built a championship culture, developed high-character teams, and led with purpose for more than four decades.
The full cost of the Academy is $13,000. I’m working hard to cover as much as I can personally, and I’m hoping to raise $9,000 through this campaign to help make it possible.
This experience isn’t just about me. It’s about what I’ll bring back. Everything I learn will be integrated into the work I already do—leading coach development, mentoring student-athletes, and building a program rooted in connection, growth, and character. I want to bring home the best of what makes “The Brotherhood” at Duke so special—and translate that into how we lead here.
If you believe in the power of sport to shape lives, and if you want to be part of this next chapter in my journey, I’d be honored by your support. Every gift matters—and every share helps.
Thanks for being in my corner,
Reid
