*1/1/21 Update*
Rei's apartment building is still not accessible to them and is being investigated for arson. This means they may never get any of their possessions back. They've been informed that their apartment took on extensive water damage.
Rei took in many sick, injured, and unwanted pets that were surrendered at the vet's office where they work. With the water damage from this fire, all of the habitats and supplies for those animals have been destroyed, and due to the exposure and lack of heat, many of the pets have likely also been lost.
If you can, please donate or share to help Rei to replace their lost belongings and find and establish a new home where they continue to care for pets in need.

Rei came home on Monday night to find their apartment building on fire. Everything above their second floor apartment was completely destroyed. Firefighters were able to rescue Rei's two dogs, but Rei hasn't been allowed inside yet to see what shape the rest of the place is in.
Rei is a thoughtful and generous caretaker who pours their heart into their work as a vet tech and into helping friends and family (and, of course, our pets). This was their first time living by themselves after graduating from school last year, and they have put a lot of time and care into creating the space. Please help if you can.
"At around 8 pm, my apartment building caught fire. That's what I returned home to. I couldn't go in to get my pets. The fire was so large, the entire third floor was engulfed. I live on the second. They worked for over 5 hours. Finally, after much begging from my mom, the chief of the fire department entered my apartment and rescued Spock and Jupiter. I don't know of the state of the rest of my pets. But seeing her walk back to the car with them. With my boys. I've probably lost close to everything. I've lost the home that I built, that I was so proud of. If anyone can help in any way, I'd be so appreciative. It's going to be a long road rebuilding what took me so long to create. Right now, the boys and I are safe and I have a place to stay but the only things I have are what I had with me."
