My cat Rei, named after Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon, has been my loyal companion since I adopted her from the Humane Society of Bay County in 2014. She’s always been a spunky, mischievous, and sweet cat who loves to snuggle at night and give lots of kisses. Over the years, Rei has brought so much joy and comfort into my life, and I can’t imagine my days without her by my side.
Recently, Rei’s health began to decline. She started losing weight, and her vomiting became more frequent until she could barely keep anything down except water. After several vet visits and tests, we learned that her white blood cell and lymphocyte counts were elevated. Prednisone helped control her vomiting for a while, but she struggled with the medication and special diets. At her most recent appointment, we received the heartbreaking news that Rei has bowel cancer. Her blood counts have continued to rise, and she’s also battling severe arthritis that requires monthly Solencia injections to help with her mobility and pain. Despite these challenges, there is hope that with continued treatment, Rei could go into remission and enjoy more good days.
Rei’s journey hasn’t been easy. She was rescued as a kitten after being found half-frozen during a terrible snowstorm, and she’s shown incredible resilience ever since. Now, she needs help again. The funds raised will go toward her emergency care, regular vet visits, medications, and anything else she needs to stay comfortable and supported. Any help you can give would mean the world to us. Thank you for supporting Rei and giving her the best chance at more happy, comfortable days.
