as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention Dear Friends and Supporters, I am honored to share that on June 22nd, I was elected to represent the state of Oregon as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention. This is an incredible opportunity to advocate for our community’s values and ensure our voices are heard on the national stage. However, with this honor comes significant expenses, particularly the exorbitant costs of hotel accommodations in Chicago, where the convention will be held. Despite being from Chicago and having family and friends in the city, the demanding schedule of meetings and early sessions necessitates staying in the designated delegate housing.
Unfortunately, these accommodations are expected to cost around $700 per night. While I usually would not seek financial support for such expenses, the high costs make it challenging to cover these expenses alone. Therefore, I humbly ask for your help in raising the necessary funds to ensure my participation in this important event. I want to clarify that my airfare and transportation have already been covered, thanks to a timely Southwest sale prior to my election. Thus, I only need assistance with hotel accommodations.
It is important to note that this request is entirely personal and unrelated to my professional role as Pastor of Your Bible Speaks Seventh-day Adventist Church. I am reaching out as an individual committed to representing Oregon and contributing to the positive change we all strive for. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will go directly towards covering my lodging expenses during the convention.
Additionally, any funds collected that exceed the cost of housing will be donated to a community organization in the city of Chicago.
