Help Gina Viscomi Recover-6 Weeks in the Hospital

Hi, our names are Brontë and Bronwyn Malner and we are writing this on behalf of our Auntie G. As you may or may not know, Auntie G is the most generous person you will meet. During the pandemic, she would feed her elderly neighbors and would constantly make sure that everyone was taken care of. Anyone who knows her knows that she is the first person to cook a great Italian dinner for anyone who needs a little comfort and love. Not only is she so loving and giving, she has worked so hard to build several successful businesses due to her strong work ethic, charisma, and tenacity.

However, since July 2021, Auntie G has been suffering and hospitalized from COVID-19. She was in St. Joseph's hospital for six weeks, four of which were spent in the ICU. Not only did my aunt get diagnosed with COVID, she is also suffering from severe pneumonia which has led to several blood clots in her lungs and the constant need for oxygen. This will limit her tremendously.

These past six weeks have been the scariest weeks for Gina and our family. At one point during the hospitalization, the doctors told us that she wasn't going to make it out and we all were not ready to say goodbye. Miraculously, she turned a corner and has been on the road to recovery since. Our hearts have been ringing with joy. Regina's immediate family (us, our mom and brother) have decided to stay in California, leaving our home in New York. She will need 24/7 care after this traumatic experience until she recovers. Our aunt is struggling so much and we just want to help her with everything and any way we can. We decided that doing a fundraiser is the next best thing we could do to help her financially.

We are so incredibly grateful that she survived and is out of the hospital. She is now able to recover in her own home with her family, but the fight is not over. Auntie G is still so weak; she has trouble breathing and even walking. Regina is not able to work because of how immobile she has become. With not being able to work, which hurts her because she loves what she does, she will be struggling financially as well as physically. Her recovery will take several months and during that time she has to pay an enormous amount for her hospital bills, deductible, and co-pays. We are asking for help with her recovery. We appreciate everything that has helped her come out of the hospital and are so grateful for what everyone has done so far. Thank you all for the meals, love, support and prayers.
