Help Reggie recover from a dog attack

Hi, my name is Sheena, I have a little sausage dog Reggie who is 7 months old. Yesterday on our usual walk in the afternoon a massive dog (likely a Mastiff cross or Crane Cross, unsure of the breed) who wasn’t on a lead came charging at Reggie. He grabbed him by the neck and wouldn’t let go. Reggie was mauled on the streets, just 2 minutes from his home. He screamed and I tried my best to get the massive dog off him but failed. Reggie jumped out of his harness and ran on the road with all the cars passing to save his life. He was rescued by a kind lady who got out of her car and clamped him down till I got to him.

The man who owned the attacker dog fled the scene, when followed by a diligent neighbour, the man assaulted the neighbour and egged his dog to attack this man as well. The incident has been captured on video and has been reported to the police. The video of the attack has also been captured on Ring cameras.

Reggie is currently in the hospital recovering. He has been put under anaesthesia, methadone for pain, and is on antibiotics. He’s been under emergency surgery to treat his wounds. He has received multiple stitches. He also has a puncture wound on his neck which is oozing puss. He has been under a CT scan to check for damages to his spine.

I am raising these funds for my dog Reggie. The vet costs have come up to £4000 and rising since he’s still at the vets and will stay there for another two days. I do have insurance but it only has an annual limit of £2000.

Reggie will likely require behavioural therapy for the trauma and may not want to be around other dogs anymore. If you can, please contribute to my beautiful dog. We will be eternally grateful for all your prayers and support.
