Support Regan’s Healing Journey After Accident at Burning Man
Dear Friends, Family, and Burning Man Community,
I’m reaching out on behalf of our dear friend Regan, who recently experienced an unexpected and serious injury at Burning Man. While enjoying the creativity and freedom that this magical place offers, Regan had a terrible accident on a slide. She broke and dislocated her ankle, leading to a whirlwind of medical needs that she could never have anticipated.
Regan had to be rushed by emergency ambulance from the Playa(Gerlach, NV) to Reno, where she had a short medical stay and scheduled surgery, which happened yesterday. Luckily, her insurance covered much of the surgery, still leaving her with a copay of $2,500. Her insurance, unfortunately, only covers 20% of the ambulance costs, leaving her with a staggering financial burden of the estimated $25k ride off the Playa.
In addition, her costs for physical therapy and the time off work she’ll need for a full recovery. Regan doesn’t have the safety net of paid leave, making this situation even more challenging and heavy to hold alone. She is estimated to have to be out of her work for two months.
Regan was also in the middle of a big life transition—moving into a new home just before heading to Burning Man. Most of her belongings are still packed in boxes, and she now faces the added stress of needing in-home care and support while she heals, with no close family nearby to lean on.
We’re raising funds to help cover Regan’s medical expenses, physical therapy, and in-home care so she can focus on healing and getting back on her feet, as well as supporting her cost of living while she is away from work. Every dollar counts and will go directly towards helping Regan navigate this tough period.
Burners know how to take care of each other, so please help us un-f*ck her Burn, and get her back on her feet in a good way.
Thank you for your generosity, your kindness, and your love in helping her heal up in a good way!
