Help Regan Beat Chronic Migraines
Donation protected
As of today, August 22, 2018, Regan has had a Migraine for 477 consecutive days.
Since 2004 Regan has been experiencing increasing numbers of Migraine headaches. Over the course of 2015 they became nearly constant. In December of 2015, they caused the end of her 18 year career, working for the State of Montana as a Case Manager at Riverside Youth Correctional Facility. After exhausting all of her medical leave, the migraines left Regan no choice but to resign from her position and apply for disability. Not only were they excruciating pain wise, but they consistently caused vision issues that prevented her from driving to work, let alone performing her duties if she could get there.
Over the years Regan has worked with multitudes of medical professionals and treatment plans. She has worked with two Montana Neurologists, a pain specialist, and an Ophthalmologist, had referrals and visits to specialists at both the University of Washington Seattle and the University of Colorado Aurora Hospitals. She has seen Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Craniosacral Therapists, and Mental Health Therapists. She has been prescribed over 25 different abortive medications and daily medications, Specialized diets, Botox injections, Trigger point injections, lidocaine injections, Sphenocath, Cephaly, Head/Neck CAT scans and MRIs, CPAP, a sleep study, and Medical Marijuana. Homeopathic treatments include: Daith piercing in both ears, Massage, baths and ice packs, and constant use of sunglasses and ear plugs. None of these treatments or prescriptions have provided more than the slightest relief.
Which brings us to her final treatment and what Regan believes is her best chance at consistent relief, the Reed Migraine Center's 'Reed Procedure', which reports an 80% success rate. The 'Reed Procedure', is a nerve stimulation migraine treatment, specifically designed for chronic migraine patients. It involves implanting an occipital and supra-orbital nerve stimulation device, which provides relief by interrupting the brain's pain response.
In order to receive treatment, Regan will need to go to the Reed Migraine Center in Dallas for a 3-5 day, pre-implant 'lead' trial to test for and confirm a positive response/result before a full surgical implantation. If the trial goes well, Regan will need to come back to Great Falls to wait for official insurance approval (all inquiries have met with an unofficial presumption of eventual approval) and then return to Dallas for the surgical implantation procedure. The out of pocket cost of this procedure for Regan is approximately $15,000.00
At minimum Regan is hopeful for relief from the daily pain of chronic migraines, however a return to normal life and the opportunity to work again would be the very best possible outcome.
Thank you so much for your support!
