Help This Afghan Refugee Family Start a New Life
Donation protected
We are reaching out to all willing to help a beautiful Afghan family begin a new life here in Toronto.
The Moshen family have recently arrived in Toronto from Kabul, Afghanistan, where they have lived all their lives. They arrived here as refugees in early September of 2021 after the Taliban swept through their city. They have been staying in a hotel room for nearly 8 weeks
The photo you see above is the plane they boarded in the night at the Kabul airport. To protect the families identity, we will not be posting a photo of their faces. We have spent time with this family and we are determined to help them out of this terrible situation.

As you likely know, the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated extremely quickly and Hasani, her husband and mother, as well as their two small children, a little girl aged 3 and her brother, aged 5, were given less than 1 hour to get from their home to the airport. With nothing except the clothes on their backs, they left a happy home, a successful business, and all that they have worked for behind. Unable to access bank accounts, assets, or resources, they faced horrific treatment and circumstances while they made their journey to Canada in hopes of a chance to start over and provide a safe place for their children to grow up. We are doing what we can now to provide them with stability and support.
Prior to leaving their home, Hasina worked as an Executive Director for a non-profit helping women in Afghanistan. Her husband Mirwais, is a computer engineer who can create websites, work in e-commerce and is a talented photographer. Hasina’s mom is an amazing seamstress. They are eager to continue working once they have their feet under them with urgent needs taken care of.

This family needs help. They are being given a small amount of money from the Canadian government which does not even cover the cost of absolute necessities.
We are working diligently to find a suitable home for this family of 5 to settle and begin to heal, but the reality is that they need our help to offset the cost until they’re able to get on their feet.
If you have, or know of a home that would work for this family, please reach out. We have been tirelessly searching listings but unfortunately most suitable homes are not within reach right now.
We all have families, bills, and homes of our own. We know what it costs to live here in Toronto and while we love this city for being a welcoming, multicultural place that all can call home, it is not going to be an easy journey for this family. Any small amount that we can do to make this easier for them, counts.
As cold weather approaches, we do have a list of the specific things this family will need in order to get through the winter and live comfortably. If you are not able to donate monetarily through this fundraiser, please reach out by contacting us at the bottom of this page, to chat about other ways you can help. We are not taking used material donations at this time, as funds are needed more urgently. Please also reach out if you have any questions or ideas regarding this fundraiser and helping this wonderful family.
