How is it that some people who study English formally speak it less fluently than those who’ve never had formal instruction?
For more than twenty years, I’ve investigated why conventional English teaching leaves so many learners confused or unable to use what they’ve learnt confidently.
Through my audio-visual series, The English Problem, and my Insider English (dot ONLINE) website, I examine at least 18 familiar assumptions about English grammar. I reveal patterns obscured by inherited, Latin-based explanations and present a clearer, more cognitively accessible approach to the world’s lingua franca.
My ELT Reform project invites educators, researchers and learners to question these assumptions, test new explanations and help reshape English-language teaching.
I’m now seeking support to turn this lifelong work into accessible courses, videos and practical resources for educators worldwide.
If you have a stake in the future of English-language teaching, I invite you to explore the project, share it and contribute to its development.
English belongs to the world and should be a human right—not a lucrative business. How we teach it matters.
Help me bring my project into the open. Thank you!
