Help Reese Heal from Brain Cancer & Rebuild His Life

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Cait, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my partner Reese — the most brilliant, kind, loving, and possibly the funniest human I know — who is now facing the biggest battle of his life.

Reese was recently diagnosed with a Grade 2 Oligodendroglioma — a rare, slow-growing but serious primary brain tumor. It’s something no one ever expects to hear, especially at just 38 years old.

He now faces major brain surgery, followed by chemotherapy and/or radiation, and a lifetime of neurological care.

And while we’re doing everything we can to prepare — emotionally, physically, and financially — the truth is, we can’t do this alone.

What We’re Facing:
• The tumor has already caused seizures, forcing Reese to give up his driver’s license and independence.
• He’s had to stop working, and doctors have told us that returning to traditional employment may not be possible.
• Surgery is scheduled for August 20, 2025, with at least a 3-month recovery ahead — possibly longer depending on treatment response.
• I’m currently working part-time and in school, but due to seizure risks, I’ve been advised not to leave Reese alone. We’ll need in-home support, or I’ll have to cut back even more — and we’re already stretched to the edge.
• Chemo and/or radiation are guaranteed parts of Reese’s treatment. We just don’t know how much or how long yet. What we do know is: insurance won’t cover it all.
• And even after a partial resection and cancer treatment, this tumor is incurable. Reese will need lifelong oncology care, regular scans, and ongoing management — for the rest of his life.
• We’re both actively looking for remote work we can do from home, but balancing job hunting with caregiving, school, and a serious diagnosis is incredibly difficult.
• Meanwhile, the bills — mortgage, utilities, groceries, medications — keep coming. And will be dangerously close to losing our home if we can’t get help soon.

What Your Donation Supports:

We’re humbly asking for support to help cover:
• Mortgage and living expenses while Reese is unable to work
• Chemo, radiation, and surgery and healing-related costs that aren’t covered by insurance
• In-home caregiver support — or the ability for me to reduce work without risking everything
• Lifelong follow-ups with his neuro-oncology team
• Healing-focused support like supplements, therapies, and rehab
• Emergency funds in case of complications or hospital readmission
• The chance to start or purchase a small, home-based business that Reese can manage long-term — so he can still feel a sense of dignity, purpose, and contribution

Why This Matters:

This isn’t just about one surgery.

This is about reshaping our entire life around a diagnosis we can’t undo — and trying to do it with love, grace, and some kind of peace of mind and hope.

Reese is doing everything he can to fight, to heal, to keep faith, and to hold on to who he is beyond this diagnosis. He’s lost so much already — his health, his career, his independence — and yet he shows up every day with strength, humor, and more love and tenacity than I knew a person could carry.

I want to do everything I can to protect him — but I can’t do it alone.

We’re not asking for a handout. We’re asking for a chance to breathe. To get through this without having to delay treatment or lose our home. To give Reese the safety, support, and resources he needs to really heal.

How You Can Help:
• Donate — anything, truly. Even $5 helps more than you know.
• Share this campaign with your community — your repost might be the one that changes everything.
• Support Reese’s e-commerce store (coming soon!)
• Send love — messages, prayers, playlists, voice notes, or memes — every little lift reminds us we’re not alone.
• Have a podcast, book, or healing resource to share? Please send it our way. If you’d like to include us in your prayer circle, meditation practice, or just hold space with kind words, we welcome it with open hearts.

From the bottom of our hearts: thank you.

Thank you for holding space for us. For showing up. For reminding us that healing is worth funding — and that Reese’s life is worth saving.

Your support is helping us protect not just a home, but a future.
Not just treatment, but dignity.
Not just survival — but the right to truly heal.

With love, grit, and so much gratitude,
Cait & Reese
