I am 19 years old and all I want to do is go to college and get a degree in social work and help others. It is something I have dreamed of since I was young and now that dream is quick to slip away from me due to money and familial issues
I am currently enrolled in University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a major in Social Work.
I am no stranger to hard work. The first year and a half of college I was able to pay for it out of pocket by my meager savings and a series of jobs. I will continue to hold jobs and do what I can to get through this but it is not enough.
Sadly as I work myself into a state of exhaustion, my mother barely makes ends meet to keep me and my sister clothed and fed at home so she has no ability to help me beyond that.
I will not benefit financially from these donations. The money raised will go into an account to be managed by a trustee that I can trust whose sole focus is to pay for my schooling going forward. The trustee will have instructions that all monies in excess of tuition, fees and room & board for my college career will be paid forward to my sister, who will face a similar fate in two years.
