Help Reed Chase His Hockey Dreams
Donation protected
Hi Black Bear community,
My name is Lynden Breen. During my time with the program, I met an incredible family who are lifelong Black Bear fans. Their 10-year-old son, Reed, lives with spina bifida, which affects his mobility and requires him to use a wheelchair or crutches daily.
Despite the challenges, Reed is passionate about sports — especially Maine hockey. Recently, he tried sled hockey with a local program and immediately fell in love with the sport.
Now, we want to help Reed take the next step and get his own sled hockey gear so he can officially join the team. Adaptive sports equipment can be an expensive barrier for families, and we hope to raise funds to help Reed get his own here so he can join the team and keep playing.
As someone whose nephew lives with a severe disability, I know how important accessibility and inclusion is for families with kids with disability. Giving Reed the chance to get on the ice and enjoy the game without having to worry about the struggle to get the equipment would be great.
Let’s help Reed feel what it’s like to be part of the team — not just in the stands, but on the ice.
Thanks for any support you can give.
