Help re.DEFINE Dance Studio Recover from Robbery
Donation protected
Dear re.DEFINE Dance Studio Community, Friends, and Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I share news of an incident that took place yesterday morning at 6:52 am. Our studio experienced another robbery, the second in the past four years. This time, the loss was even more significant. The thieves managed to steal nearly all of our camera equipment, cash, and office essentials—valued at over $15,000. The camera gear alone represents over a decade of investment and hard work, accumulated over the last 10 to 15 years.
The intruders were able to break into our lockbox, which contained keys for our renters, and it appears that they were familiar with our space. It’s likely that they had already scoped out our studio prior to the robbery.
As a studio owner and creative, this loss feels deeply personal. Our studio is meant to be a sanctuary, a safe space for our community, and a place of expression and connection. Having this violated is incredibly disheartening, especially after the setbacks we’ve faced during the pandemic. While this is a huge blow, I am grateful that no one was harmed and that no further damage was done to the studio.
A police report has been filed, and we’re in the process of filing an insurance claim to address the losses. In addition, we have started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for replacing the stolen equipment and strengthening our security measures. Any support, whether through donations or spreading the word, would mean the world to us as we work to rebuild and keep our creative home thriving.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate through this challenging time.
With gratitude,
Mappy & Margela
