Help Five Red Hook Artists Rebuild After Fire

On Thursday we woke up to the news that our shared artist studio in Red Hook Brooklyn had been destroyed by a massive five alarm fire with over 250 firefighters responding to a blaze that burned for over 7 hours. The fire seems to have started on the 3rd floor - directly underneath our studio on the 4th floor. The roof and the 4th floor have both collapsed. We've seen some drone footage and have confirmed that it is a total loss. Nothing from our studio has survived or is salvageable. We've heard that the walls of the building are starting to buckle from all the water and there's a fear that the entire 150 year old structure may also collapse. Dozens of artists' life work has been destroyed.

Personally, two of my shows are / were out on tour, but my entire archive, all YOUARENOWHERE and all AFTER equipment, lighting, props, costumes, etc. are likely gone. I don't know what to say. I don't have words now. I know we will get through this. But a lot of people in our little community are going to need some help very soon. Not only to recoup what they have lost, but to find a new studio, start over, etc. If you find that you have the ability to help in the near future we would be very grateful.

Affected artists in our immediate studio include ayo ohs, Samantha DeMaryela, Marina McGehee, Faye Harnest, and Andrew Schneider. We may expand or combine this fundraiser with other fundraisers in the future as we were about 9 studios in all - in our little section of the 4th floor.
