Help Red Dog Beat Cancer!

In June of 2018, my furry friend and favorite companion, Red Dog, was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his mouth. This type of cancer, if left untreated, can spread from the mouth into the jaw bone, the lymph nodes, and even the lungs, and would likely be fatal. Fortunately, we believe that we've caught it in a very early stage and that, with treatment, Red Dog could have many more years of life and health.

Red Dog is a very unique animal and has made more friends than we can count. Whenever I bring him to the studio or around town with me, we often run into people who know Red Dog and don’t even know me! Red Dog loves to run free-range through the woods or on the tops of mountains. He loves to ride with me in my truck with the windows down and smell all the smells. He loves to snuggle and occasionally will participate in a quadruple spoon with me, my partner, himself, and Luna (my partner's cat). It's the best! For a stray dog found on the streets of Nashville, too skinny and covered in fleas, Red Dog now has a great life and is a very important part of my family.

To be completely honest, I need Red Dog much more than he needs me! But at this time he needs me to make the right decisions for his little life, so that he can live the longest and healthiest, and with as little suffering as possible. I believe I am making the right decision in treating Red Dog with an immunotherapy vaccine. The immunotherapy vaccine will help Red Dog’s own immune system fight off cancer cells in his entire body, and with little to no side effects. Red Dog has already undergone a small surgery to have the tumor in his mouth removed, and the immunotherapy treatments will hopefully do the rest. However, working with a specialist vet and doing these treatments is beyond my financial means, which is why I am reaching out for community support.

I chose to use GoFundMe instead of Kickstarter because, with GoFundMe, I will receive donations whether I reach my goal or not. However, as with a Kickstarter, I would like to offer prizes for your donations. The prizes I am offering are as follows:

$9 or less donation: Infinite gratitude!

$10 or more donation: A hand-written thank you note with an original haiku written by Red Dog! Plus infinite gratitude!

$25 or more donation: A small, handmade wall vase! Plus infinite gratitude and a Red Dog original haiku!

$50 or more donation: One of my handmade coffee mugs, your choice of Moon Mug or Pinched Mug! Plus infinite gratitude and a Red Dog original haiku!

$100 or more donation: Set of two coffee mugs! Plus infinite gratitude and a Red Dog original haiku!

$200 or more donation: Your choice of a large pinched serving bowl OR an asymmetrical vase! Plus infinite gratitude and a Red Dog original haiku!

$500 or more donation: You design your own ceramic vessel or object and I will (to the best of my ability) make it for you! Plus infinite gratitude and a Red Dog original haiku!

Would you like to donate to Red Dog, but don't particularly want any pottery? Or would like something different from the prizes being offered? That's fine too. Just let me know.

Infinite Gratitude,

Tara and Red Dog
