On January 10 2024 I was standing in front of Coens gas station on the South Side and a car pulled into the parking space in front of me and all of a sudden floored the gas and hit me and put me through the building. My story was on Channel 11 news, you can Google it for proof. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance I had a broken femur I needed 2 surgeries and was in the hospital and a nursing home for a month.
The woman had no driver's license, insurance and the car wasn't registered or inspected. I am still waiting for the trial but I won't see any money out of her, she has nothing
I was bed bound for 4 months unable to bare weight, at 6 months post op my bone is not healing.. today I got a bone stimulator that I have to wear for 24 hours a day for 6 weeks I can only take it off to shower when I go back to see my surgeon in 6 weeks if it's not showing signs of healing my doctor will decide weather he is going to do a bone graft or remove my femur from the break down and put in a metal rod, he said there is a very high risk of infection and a chance I could lose my leg. I am devastated.
For 6 months I have been struggling I am on SSI and get $941 a month and my rent is $700 after I pay that and my utilities I really have nothing left. I have been relying on this go fund me and the help of friends to survive.
I have had to purchase medical equipment, pay people to take care of me, clean my house, do my shopping. I just cannot afford all of this and I am in desperate need of help. - On January 11, 2024 I was pinned between a car and a brick building at Cohen's Gas Station on 24th and Carson Street on the South Side. I suffered a very complicated broken femur that I had to have a 5 hour surgery to repair, I now have an 8 inch rod in my leg and and so many pins and screws the surgery had to be stopped so they could get more parts brought into the operating room. I am in horrible pain, I cannot bare weight on my leg and may not be able to for up too 6 months. I'm now in a Skilled Nursing Facility and Rehabilitation Center I will need months of physical therapy. I was already on SSI and struggling due too a problematic knee replacement. This is going to set me back another year. I live alone. I have pets I must pay too be cared for they are my life and have never been without me. I will need home care when I am allowed to go home and what my insurance offers isn't enough it will have to be supplemented by me. The woman who hit me had no license or insurance and though she was arrested it will be a long time before I ever see any compensation if ever do.
