Help Recovering from Catalytic Converter Theft

Hi, my name is Taylor, I am a 26 y/o trans femme and I create art under the artist name amada in the band closegood. At the beginning of this year the catalytic converter was stolen from my Prius (yanked out, it was a destructive removal, breaking several other parts), it was not financially possible for me to fix it on my own, and since it is the third time it has occurred in the last 3 years, my insurance was not very helpful either. The catalytic converter for a Prius is highly sought after and more expensive than cars that are not hybrids, plus my car at it's current age was worth less than the cost of fixing.

I struggle to ask for help and I desperately wanted to maintain my sense of independence by fixing the problem on my own, but unfortunately my lack of transportation cascaded into a wide variety of unforeseen financial hardships.

Accessing work, food, medical care, medication, and community became increasingly more difficult. For a while I was using ridesharing apps and BART to get to work hoping to be able to save and fix my car but that quickly led to a maxed out credit card and strained resources/energy/mental health trying to do things like feed myself and get my medication without having my car.

The results of not asking for help sooner have been compounding over time, I regret not asking for community support sooner, I am exhausted from continually trying to figure things out as the longer this plays out the harder it is to pay bills. Realistically I need a car and a month of sleep, but even just some light relief from this would be immensely helpful. I would like to regain my sense of independence and access work opportunities that require having reliable transport.
