Help Recover Cost For Damages after Robbery
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Dina Johannes and I am currently a rising junior at Temple University.
Just this past week, when I came back to my off-campus apartment to move out, I discovered that my roommates, Kenefere Kamani and D’Aungele Thompson, and my apartment had been broken into and ransacked.
The apartment door had been kicked in, the apartment trashed, and various belongings had been taken, including TVs, clothing, shoes, perfume, dishware, and even personal items such as birthday cards and letters. Even though all our bedroom doors were locked, they found a way to unlock them all and take the majority of our belongings.
After talking to the police, there isn’t much they can do to help us recover any of our items.
My roommates and I are currently dealing with the situation as best we can, attempting to recover any Ring camera footage and communicate next steps with our landlord. Things have been a bit rocky as communication on their end has been little to none.
Unfortunately, the belongings cannot be recovered and it will cost a lot of money to replace certain valuables. Because of this break-in, it’s very likely that we will not be able to get our security deposit back. Additionally, other items are irreplaceable and held lots of sentimental value to us.
We are looking to pay for damages in the apartment, replace certain stolen belongings, as well as purchase a Ring camera for the future so we can feel safe in our home and stay on top of things to avoid this as a whole.
