The most heartbreaking part is that this happened mid-stride; I was actually in the middle of running a full cloud backup to secure these archives when the drive crashed. I’ve consulted with experts, and the verdict is that I need a professional clean-room extraction to salvage the data. I already have the replacement hardware and a cloud storage plan ready to go; I just need to get the data through the 'finish line' of recovery so I can finally complete the backup I started.
