Help recent grandfather get lifesaving transplant
My dad, Javier, has been through a ton over the last 3 years and this is our final push to get him the lifesaving transplant he needs.
We know the community here in the Rogue Valley has rallied over the last few months in response to the fires, and times are difficult with COVID, but this has become a dire situation for us and for my father, and we’re not sure where else to turn.
I want to personally thank you in advance for any and all help!
Javier’s nightmare, our nightmare, began in 2017 although it wasn’t until 2019 when he was rushed to the ER with a pain in his chest, difficulty breathing, and coughing up blood. That after dozens of test, scans, and blood samples he was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis – an autoimmune disease which had made its way to his lungs.
Treatment began right away, but the condition kept getting worse and included many ER visits, biopsies, lost time at work, and many, many difficult days. After a year of declining health and lung function he was again diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, a chronic and progressive lung disease that has made even the simple task of breathing difficult.
Earlier this year we were told that his best shot at survival and living a long prosperous life would be a lung transplant. A lung transplant that if you’re uninsured and undocumented would be nearly impossible.
Which is why I’m reaching out today with a sincere plea for help to get my dad the lifesaving treatment he needs. The costs are high and I know it’s a longshot to get it all, but I have to at least try for him, for my brother, my mom, his 1 year old grandchild, and all his family that wants him around for many years to come.
I want to be extremely transparent with how the money will be spent so you know how your money will be used. The money will be used as follows:
Transplant average of $136,000
Caregiver- will need 2 to 3 before transplant (family) and lifetime caregiver after transplant (mom)
Housing - will need to live no more than an hour away from hospital for a minimum of 3 months after transplant
Transport/ Air ambulance- Would need to arrive no more than 3 hours after call for organ transplant
Anti-rejection drugs up to $2,500 per month
Again, I know these are difficult times for all, and I completely understand if you can’t donate. A simple share to your network or a like on the post would mean the world to us. Thank you! We will update this post as we (hopefully) make progress.
Sincerely,
Diana Banda
