Dave the Wave, Cinema Dave, David or however you may know him or made his acquaintance, you know his pure and gentle, ever helping character. Right now he needs our help, though he’s far too humble to ask. That’s why his friends have created this fundraiser to help Dave rebuild his life.
On December 16 and 17 Typhoon Rai (Odette) completely destroyed his modest two story house, his village and all but his phone, his bike and the clothes on his back. He also survived two death defying events during the typhoon as the bunker he made shelter in was also very badly damaged. Dave was only able to contact his Australian family on December 27 to be assured he had survived, as Odette passed above his home, completely destroying everything in her path. Clean drinking water and food is scarce, only days ago he was able to eat from food donations made privately. Power is expected be restored to his area in six months . Government resources are focusing on the heavily populated cities and towns of the devastated Philippines, leaving the more remote tourist areas as low priority.
It's our aim to raise enough funds for Dave to begin to rebuild his home and to do this he needs a generator for power and money to by fuel and building supplies. If you are able to assist, it would be very heart warming and gratefully received by Dave and his family. If you know him you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Dave the Wave was a Jamison Street boy in the Ladies Night Show, entertaining thousands of women over 4 years as well as fronting many bars in Sydney up until the late 90’s. Cinema Dave then moved to Byron Bay and helped create and front the Pig House Flicks, and Cotton Club in Byron Bay’s Arts Factory and more recently married his island girl Jenelyn and moved to the Philippines.
Forever a kind-hearted man, you can be assured that if ever you needed help, David would be there for you and probably already has been. Now it’s time for good karma to return to our dear friend.
Any amount is help and it is all greatly appreciated and all funds we receive (after GoFundMe removes 2.9%) will be transferred directly to Dave.
On behalf of David’s family and friends, we sincerely thank you!
Sein & Taliah, Matt & Lainie, Richo and Dave's families.
