Help Rebuild Wild and Wise Apothecary

Nicole Gagliano is a community herbalist in Petrolia, California on the Lost Coast. Many people have benefited from her knowledge and dedication in addition to her ability to provide teas, tinctures, hydrosols, herbal products and an herbal CSA. While leveling her apothecary that had started sinking, the building slipped off of it's post and a devastating loss occurred destroying a substantial portion of her medicines, equipment, dried herbs, glass jars, ingredients, etc. This loss affects not only Nicole and her family but her larger community of herbalists and patrons who rely on Nicole and the medicines she provides. The accumulation of these medicines & supplies took years and this is a significant blow that will require community support in order to recover from.

Herbalism is an act of love; of community, of people, of connections, and of stewardship of the land. Many people turn to community herbalists for help when western medicine and the medical industrial complex fails to see the whole person and all of their complexities. We need community herbalism and herbalists because they play an important role in the health of any given community. Nicole is no exception to this, she plays a vital role in not only her local community but also the larger herbal community. To be an herbalist means to dedicate your life to this craft and to helping others with little monetary return.
