Wild Edge Woodcraft, or WEW, is a family-built and run carpentry business with deep roots in our community. For years, we specialized in transforming trees into beautiful, lasting furniture—offering everything from milling and kiln drying to expert carpentry, sanding, finishing, and epoxy work. Our shop was more than just a workplace; it was a hub for learning, sharing, and giving back. We often traded services or offered reduced prices, such as removing fallen trees for free if the wood was donated. We would then provide those same homeowners with our services at cost if they wanted furniture from the lumber, and we loved to open our doors to teach classes or rent out our space and equipment so others could learn this craft.
Tragically, our business was lost in a sudden fire. Because we had so many wood-based projects under the same roof, in a building we built from our own lumber, no insurance company would cover us. We had safety drills, dozens of extinguishers, and safety protocols, but in thirty minutes, while we were away picking up supplies for the shop, we lost our building, tools, products, and every ongoing project. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the volunteer fire department did a great job of containing it, but the devastation has been overwhelming. Our commitment to our community and our craft remains strong however, and we seek to rebuild. The funds raised here will help us clear the remains of our old shop, rebuild, replace essential equipment, and support our family as we hustle to finish what projects we can with our severely limited tools.
Wild Edge Woodcraft was built around the idea of 'memory wood'—turning trees with sentimental value into furniture that carries family stories forward. Inspired by 'The Giving Tree,' my father’s dream was always to create a sustainable, eco-friendly business that could be passed down through generations and serve our community. Any support you can offer means the world to us, and we promise to pay your kindness forward, continuing to give back through our craft and our hearts.
