After our January and March trip to Western North Carolina, we were deeply moved by the overwhelming needs left in the wake of Hurricane Helene. The devastation is unimaginable, especially in a first world country. Entire communities are struggling to survive, much less rebuild, and it’s clear that more help is urgently needed.
We, the Lacy Family + the piggies from Cochranton, PA along with first cousins of ours who are meeting housing needs along with body recovery and Cochranton Community Church, are committing to serve this region (Buncombe County specifically but not limited to) for the next year. We feel our best contribution is focusing on meeting critical needs through generosity, donations, and volunteer efforts. Our mission centers on three key areas:
1. Strengthening Local Leaders: The local heroes—pastors, organizers, and volunteers—are physically and emotionally exhausted from leading recovery efforts. Our goal is to support and uplift them so they can continue to serve their communities. We will specifically strengthen the arms of: Valley Strong Disaster Relief, Valley Hope Church, Black Mountain Children’s Home, Generation Church, and The Blessing Barn in Swannanoa among other orgs.
2. Promoting Healthy Living: Access to clean water, nourishing food, and essential supplies is vital. We’re committed to providing resources that promote health and wellness while helping to combat the illnesses that often follow natural disasters.
3. Fostering Emotional Well-Being: The trauma of this disaster has left many struggling with PTSD and emotional scars. We will prioritize healing through counseling resources, books, and moments of connection that bring hope and restoration.
With your help, we can be a steady source of support in this ongoing crisis including many more trips down to the area making sure your donations are effective. Your donation will help provide critical supplies, fund wellness workshops, and allow us to show up for the people who need it most. Together, we can bring hope, healing, and renewal to these resilient communities.
