To our beloved community, friends, and customers of Vinewood Mexican Bakery,
We have received countless messages over the years asking what happened to our bakery and why we suddenly disappeared. We stayed silent for a long time because we are a private family. We believe in faith, in patience, and in trusting that God carries us through our hardest seasons. But today, we feel it’s time to share our story with you, the people who have supported us from the very beginning.
On December 3rd, 2023, at approximately 5:26 PM, our lives changed in a single moment. A vehicle crashed into the side of our bakery. The impact hit a structural beam, and because our building is very old, the damage was devastating. The city building engineer determined that the structure was unsafe to occupy. We were forced to close our doors and leave the building immediately.
What many people don’t see is what happens after the headlines fade.
Our insurance helped cover part of the damages, and for that we are grateful. But the person responsible for the accident faced no real consequences. Their insurance never paid for the damage, never helped with housing, and never took responsibility. We trusted the legal process and hired an attorney, believing we would receive justice. Unfortunately, time passed, and we were later told that nothing could be done, that the case had “expired.” It’s hard to describe the heartbreak of being told time ran out, when we were still living the consequences every single day.
Just when we thought we were finally catching our breath, we faced another setback. In February of 2025, we trusted someone who offered to help rebuild our bakery quickly. We believed in good faith, and instead, we were taken advantage of. The work was left unfinished, done poorly, and our savings were gone. It felt like starting from zero, again.
This journey has been heavy. It has tested our faith, our strength, and our hope more than words can express. We have had moments where it felt easier to give up than to keep going. But this bakery is more than a business to us. It represents our parents’ sacrifices, our family’s hard work, our culture, and the love we have poured into this community for years.
Today, we are slowly rebuilding piece by piece, step by step, with new contractors and renewed determination. It is not easy. We are starting over from the ground up. But we are still here. And we are not giving up.
Thank you to everyone who has checked on us, remembered us, prayed for us, and waited for us. Your messages, your support, and your kindness have meant more than you will ever know. We carry your love with us as we continue this long road back.
We promise, Vinewood Mexican Bakery will rise again.
Not just rebuilt, but stronger than before.
Your support will help us repair the building, replace lost equipment, and cover the costs needed to safely reopen. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to welcoming our neighbors back into our bakery. Thank you for believing in us and helping keep our family’s dream alive.
With gratitude and love,
The Vinewood Mexican Bakery Family
